My Patronite: https://www.patreon.com/CanItCode/ Opus 5.5 build BeamNG? One car, one wall, four ways to break it, from simple dents to a real node-and-beam skeleton, all built by Claude Opus 5.5 in the Godot engine. At the end we put our crash next to a real crash test. The same Honda Accord, the same concrete wall, four levels of damage: Dents, like most racing games: the look changes, the car stays one hard block. Parts that fall off, like GTA: bumpers, hood and doors with broken copies made before the crash. Soft body, like Wreckfest: a net of 414 points that dents and stays dented. Node and beam, like BeamNG.drive: a skeleton of hundreds of points and 1,700 beams that bend, fold and break. Level 4 was then rewritten in C++, so it runs faster than real time and you can drive into the wall yourself. Compared with NHTSA's real crash test of the same car (2009 Acura TSX, the US Accord) at 56 km/h, the real front got about 70 cm shorter, ours 72 cm. To be fair: Opus knew the real number when it built the car. Game clips, a few seconds each for comparison: Need for Speed Unbound (youtube.com/watch?v=eANGEV0KCMA), GTA V (ProGamingStudioHD, youtube.com/watch?v=UBKuChzDxbE), Wreckfest 2 (ZELEXFPS, youtube.com/watch?v=-P3HMW3faUI), BeamNG.drive (BeamNG Crashes, youtube.com/watch?v=BEsQJr9msQc). 3D car model generated with Tripo (tripo3d.ai). Built in Godot 4.7 and Blender. Crash sounds from Freesound (CC0).
