Description

Experience the face of one of ancient Egypt's most debated queens through the power of Artificial Intelligence, advanced facial reconstruction, digital restoration, and realistic 3D visualization. This documentary-style AI reconstruction brings Queen Nodjmet back to life, more than 3,000 years after her death. Each reconstruction is inspired by archaeological evidence, preserved royal mummies, inscriptions, historical records, and the physical features preserved through thousands of years. Nodjmet was an ancient Egyptian noblewoman and queen of the late 20th or early 21st Dynasty, living around 1070 BCE, at the height of one of the most turbulent periods in Egyptian history. As the New Kingdom fractured, the High Priests of Amun at Thebes became the real power in the south. Nodjmet's name is tied to two of them, Piankh and Herihor, and her son Pinedjem I would go on to become High Priest of Amun and later took royal titles. Her mummy was found in the Deir el-Bahari royal cache, buried with two Books of the Dead now held in the British Museum. One of them is considered among the most beautifully illustrated papyri to survive from ancient Egypt, and it shows Nodjmet and Herihor making offerings to Osiris. Another calls her the "King's Mother" and names her own mother as Hrere. Even so, her identity is still debated. Neither papyrus calls her "King's Wife," so some Egyptologists argue the cache mummy was actually Herihor's mother, and that his wife was a second woman of the same name. Using AI facial reconstruction, digital restoration, realistic facial modeling, historical reconstruction, and cinematic 3D visualization, this project offers an immersive glimpse into the past while respecting the archaeological evidence behind each reconstruction.
