Description

Maximilian Kolbe did not volunteer for a quick death. After offering his life in place of another prisoner at Auschwitz, the Catholic priest was taken beneath Block 11 and locked inside a starvation cell with nine other condemned men. No food. No water. As the men weakened, accounts of Kolbe’s final days describe him leading the condemned in prayer. After nearly two weeks, he was still alive. On August 14, 1941, his life was ended by an injection of phenol. He was 47 years old. But one question remains: Why would a man voluntarily choose another prisoner’s death sentence? ▶️ Watch the full story of Maximilian Kolbe now on Crown & Palm Chronicles. #MaximilianKolbe #Auschwitz #CatholicSaints #CatholicHistory #SaintMaximilianKolbe
