Description

Auschwitz was designed to strip prisoners of their identity, dignity, and ultimately their lives. Maximilian Kolbe knew exactly what awaited the men condemned to the starvation bunker. He had already been beaten, weakened by illness, and subjected to the brutality of the camp. Yet when another prisoner was selected to die, Kolbe stepped forward. Until that morning, the two men had simply been prisoners standing beside one another. In a place built to teach people that their lives meant nothing, Kolbe acted as though the life of another man meant everything. He gave his own life so that man could live. ▶️ Watch the full story of Saint Maximilian Kolbe on Crown & Palm Chronicles, including his imprisonment at Auschwitz, the sacrifice that sent him to Block 11, and the extraordinary life of the man he saved. #MaximilianKolbe #Auschwitz #CatholicSaints #CatholicHistory #SaintMaximilianKolbe
