50 Cent's New Movie Mirrors Jeff Fort's Real Story — He Got 168 Years For Real

50 Cent's film Moses the Black tells the story of a Chicago gang leader who finds faith. The real-life story it echoes is far darker — and it ended with sentences totaling well over a century. This documentary follows Jeff Fort, who started the Blackstone Rangers on Chicago's South Side in the 1960s, turned them into the Black P. Stone Nation, and later rebranded them as the El Rukns, a group that mixed religion, politics and organized crime. In 1987, Fort was convicted of plotting terrorist attacks on U.S. soil for money from Libya — the first American convicted of terrorism on behalf of a foreign government. Using court records, FBI files and contemporary reporting, we compare the Hollywood version with what really happened.
