Description

Scientists Finally Solved The Filipino DNA Mystery — After 500 Years Of Debate 📘 Want to understand your own ancestry? We wrote two books for you: What Your DNA Is Really Telling You — a practical guide to reading your DNA results: what each ancestry component means, how haplogroups work, and how to spot percentages that sound precise but aren't. Origins: The Ancient DNA Story of Every Human On Earth — 8 chapters on every major human migration, from Out of Africa to the first Europeans, the Steppe, Asia, the Americas, the Pacific and Africa. Get both here 👉 https://ancientdnafiles.gumroad.com/l/ujkmi ❤️ Support the channel on Patreon: https://patreon.com/AncientDNAFiles For generations, Filipino students were taught one simple sentence: Filipinos are Malays. Then geneticists tested more than a thousand people from 115 Indigenous communities, and that sentence fell apart. In this documentary, we follow the genetic evidence for at least five separate ancient migrations into the Philippine islands over the last 50,000 years. We meet the Ayta Magbukon of Luzon, who carry the highest known level of Denisovan ancestry in the world. We look at why the Austronesian ancestry shared by most Filipinos connects north toward Taiwan rather than south toward the Malay Peninsula, and why its timing is more complicated than the textbook "Out of Taiwan" story. We also cover the Laguna Copperplate, the 1849 Clavería surname decree, the Manila galleons, and the archaic human Homo luzonensis. Accuracy note: Very little ancient human DNA has been recovered from the Philippines itself, so most findings come from studying living communities. Any link between Denisovan ancestry and Homo luzonensis is speculation and has not been demonstrated. Percentages from commercial tests and hobbyist calculators are rough estimates, not precise measurements. We do not rank communities; every group carries a different mix of the same shared history.
