A man returns to his wife's grave in the dead of night, a bottle of whiskey in one hand and a secret he has never said out loud. He was behind the wheel the night she died. He walked away. No one ever found out. But someone at the cemetery already knows what he did, and she has been waiting a long time for him to come back. This is a short horror film about guilt, grief, and the things that refuse to stay buried. It plays as a slow-burn supernatural ghost story, opening on a quiet graveyard vigil and tightening into something far worse, and it ends on a scare that only fully lands once you understand the truth he has been hiding. Loosely inspired by Bachelor's Grove Cemetery outside Chicago, one of the most notoriously haunted burial grounds in the United States. I grew up near it, and the place carried a reputation my entire life. Local legend claims the lagoon beside the cemetery was used as a body dump during the Prohibition years, tied to Al Capone and the Chicago Outfit, and to this day visitors report a vanishing woman, phantom figures moving between the headstones, and lights drifting through the trees. This film takes that real-world dread and imagines one man's reckoning with it. CREDITS Produced, written, directed, and edited by Renee Costa, founder of The Noctuary. Brought to life with AI.
