I've always found the sound of a baby crying a little unsettling, especially when you hear it somewhere you wouldn't expect to. I don't know exactly what it is. Maybe it's the way a baby's cry immediately gets your attention, or how hard it is to ignore. There's something almost instinctive about it. But what I've always found really creepy is the idea of hearing that sound and realizing it might not actually be coming from a baby. What if something else was making it? That was pretty much the starting point for DADA. I wanted to take something completely normal and familiar and turn it into something uncomfortable. Not necessarily through jump scares or anything overly complicated, but through that lingering feeling that something just isn't right. I've always been a big fan of horror movies that can make an ordinary house or a familiar sound feel terrifying. Sometimes it's the things you don't see, or the things you can't quite explain, that end up being the scariest. With DADA, I wanted to play around with that kind of psychological horror while mixing in some supernatural horror, creepy atmosphere, unsettling sound design, and a little bit of nightmare fuel. Sound was a particularly big part of this one. I wanted to see how much tension I could build around something as simple as crying and the feeling that you might not be alone. I'm not going to say much more about the story because I'd rather you go into this one without knowing what to expect. Like my other films on The Noctuary, DADA is another experiment in creating original horror stories. I love exploring different kinds of horror, whether it's slow-burn tension, supernatural entities, creepy creatures, psychological thrillers, or just genuinely weird ideas that I can't seem to get out of my head. This one definitely started as one of those weird ideas. Anyway, I hope you enjoy it! Let me know what you thought of DADA in the comments. I'm always curious which moments people found the creepiest. And here's a question for you: **What's a completely normal sound that you've always found creepy?** If you enjoy scary short films, supernatural horror, psychological horror, creature horror, paranormal stories, disturbing short movies, or independent horror films on YouTube, consider subscribing to The Noctuary. I'm always working on something new. -- Produced, Written & Directed by Renee Costa Original Musical Score by Anthony Paesano Sound Design by Renee Costa & Anthony Paesano Created by Renee Costa, founder of The Noctuary. -- DADA short film, DADA horror film, horror short film, short horror film, scary short film, scary movies, horror movies, horror short films 2026, scary short movies, psychological horror, supernatural horror, paranormal horror, demonic horror, creature horror, monster horror, mimic horror, uncanny valley horror, disturbing horror, creepy baby crying, scary baby sounds, creepy sounds at night, unexplained noises, scary noises, haunted house horror, creepy house horror, atmospheric horror, slow burn horror, suspense horror, nightmare horror, supernatural entity, scary stories, horror stories, paranormal stories, indie horror, independent horror, cinematic horror, experimental horror, AI horror film, AI short film, AI filmmaking, Higgsfield AI, Seedance, The Noctuary, Renee Costa, Anthony Paesano #horror #scary #shortfilm
