What Enzo Maresca Should Learn from Arne Slot

Manchester City have spent over £200 million this window. Enzo Maresca should be careful. Because Arne Slot has already run this experiment. He won the Premier League in his first season at Liverpool spending almost nothing — one signing, ten points clear. Then he spent £450 million in a single window, the biggest in English football history. Isak, Wirtz, Ekitike. None of them fit. Liverpool lost nine of twelve games, finished fifth, and Slot was sacked. This is what he should learn from Slot's failure: the spending trap, the star-player problem that alienated Salah, and the refusal to adapt when the system stopped working. It's not about how much you spend. It's whether the players fit, and whether you'll change when they don't. The roadmap for failure is already written. The only question is whether Maresca reads it.
