Why It Sucks To Be Julian Alvarez Right Now

One interview changed everything for Julián Álvarez. During the World Cup, with Argentina still in the tournament, he said publicly that a transfer was the best solution for everyone. The club he wanted? Barcelona. Atlético Madrid's direct rival. The moment those words left his mouth, he stopped being their star striker and became a mercenary. Atlético filed a complaint to FIFA. They said there was zero percent chance of selling to Barcelona. Then, on August 23rd at the Metropolitano, 70,000 of his own fans booed him — and after the final whistle he was kept away from the stands and walked down the tunnel alone. This is a player who won the World Cup, the Champions League and the Premier League by 23. Who scored 29 goals in his first Atlético season. And who's now trapped at a club whose fans chant against him, with the window shut and nowhere to go. Who's actually to blame here?
