Description

A dark acoustic working-man's lament about being valued for what you can fix, not for who you are. "I'm just a Cogboy I wish I was someone But I'm only useful" In the grim darkness of the far future, the Imperium of Man depends on countless ordinary workers to keep its enormous machinery running. They call them Cogboys. Not because that's their name, but because that's what they are to everyone else. Another pair of hands. Another worker. Another cog in the machine. Give them something broken, and they'll fix it. The machines need them. Their coworkers need them. There's always another job waiting. But when the work is finished, who needs the man behind the tools? Cogboy — I'm Only Useful is a Warhammer 40K-inspired dark acoustic song about loneliness, alienation, belonging, and the fear of being replaceable. Built around a weathered, emotionally trembling male baritone, warm acoustic guitars, delicate steel-string melodies, and a muted mechanical heartbeat, the song blends dark folk, industrial folk atmosphere, and the sorrow of a working man's lament. Beneath its grimdark science-fiction setting is something painfully familiar. The mechanic, the maintenance worker, the engineer, the technician, the factory worker, the tradesman. The person everyone calls when something breaks, but rarely remembers when everything works. Someone who takes pride in being useful, yet wishes someone would need him for something more. Because being needed for what you do is not the same as being wanted for who you are. "One day I won't be there Not even an empty chair I know I'll be easily replaced And no one will notice a thing has changed" For the people who keep things running.
