Description

On July 4, 1827, about 500 people in Boonsboro, Maryland climbed a mountain and built a stone tower to George Washington in a single day. Twenty-one years later, the country began a second monument to the same man on the National Mall. That one took 36 years to reach the top. Somewhere inside those years, the record goes quiet. In this episode I walk through 5 places where you'd expect a document, a drawing or a photograph, and find nothing, or find something that doesn't fit. This is Part 4 of the Norumbega series.
