Description

#salt #cleaninghacks #themexicanway 📖 Get Bertha's Cleaning Book, every method for the whole house, written down: https://berthacleans.com Look at the pan still in your sink. You washed it once and the sponge slid across the grease like it was on ice. Mija, your soap is not weak. Soap by itself has nothing to push with. The grit you buy in a can has been sitting in your cupboard the whole time, in a box of salt. THE JAR: one cup of dish soap (any brand), half a cup of warm water (a paste, not a soup), three spoons of sal gruesa (coarse salt), one spoon of baking soda. Stir slowly with a spoon, never a whisk. Into an empty mayonnaise jar, lid on, write on the lid. Lives under the sink. One jar lasts about two months. - Soap grabs the grease. Salt is the grit, softer than steel, and it melts as you scrub so there is nothing to rinse out. Baking soda softens the cooked-on brown ring. - This is NOT the drain jar from last week. That one is dry and goes down the pipe. This one is a paste and never goes down the drain. THE SEVEN JOBS 1. The greasy pan: warm and wet, a spoonful on the grease, spread it with an estropajo, wait five minutes, scrub in small circles, rinse hot 2. The burnt pot: soak overnight with hot water and soap first, then a thick layer of paste for 15 minutes, scrub, second round if needed. What stays after two rounds is a stain, that is the oxalic powder from my stainless pans video 3. The comal and cast iron: NO jar. A handful of dry coarse salt on the warm comal, scrub with a dry rag, tip it out, a drop of oil. Soap strips the seasoning, salt does not 4. The kitchen sink: once a week, a spoonful on the sponge, the basin, the drain ring, the lip under the drain, rinse hot, dry 5. The wooden cutting board: coarse salt and half a lemon, no soap. Plastic boards stained orange: the paste, then an afternoon in the sun 6. Grout behind the stove and the stove top: paste on an old toothbrush, five minutes, damp cloth. Deep bathroom grout is still the borax job. Always a second cloth with plain water on the stove so no soap dries sticky 7. Plastic containers, dull forks, the bathroom sink and tub WHERE IT NEVER GOES: nonstick pans, glass cooktops, chrome faucets, mirrors, marble, granite. Salt is grit and it scratches. And NEVER with bleach, after bleach, or down a drain you just bleached. HONEST WORDS: this jar is a scrub for grease and stuck food on things hard enough to take grit. It does not disinfect, it does not polish silver, it does not take off rust. One thing, done well, for pennies. THE HABITS: the greasy pan tonight, not Saturday, while the grease is soft. The sink on Sunday. The salt box by the stove for the comal. Más sabe el diablo por viejo que por diablo. Tonight, mix the jar and put it on the worst pan in your sink. Tell me in the comments what your mother cleaned with salt, and your county. I read every one.
