Description

If a fire alarm goes off in your hotel at three in the morning, would you know which way the stairs are, in the dark, without your glasses? In the 1980 MGM Grand fire, the smoke reached floors the flames never touched. In this video I walk you through the 7 things I check in every hotel room before I unpack, in the order I do them, from the hallway in: counting the doors to both exit stairways, the room door and its locks, the smoke alarm (and the visual-alarm room to ask for if your hearing has slipped), carbon monoxide and the battery alarm I carry, the connecting door, sliding door and windows, bed bugs and where your suitcase goes, and number seven, the last thing I do before lights out, and the nine-year-old girl in Texas who is the reason for it. You'll also hear what happened in room 225 of a hotel in Boone, North Carolina, in 2013. Sources mentioned: NFPA, U.S. Fire Administration, CDC, EPA, ADA.gov, FCC (Kari's Law), Illinois Central Management Services, North Carolina Session Law 2013-413, American Journal of Preventive Medicine. Prices vary by store and region. If a carbon monoxide alarm sounds, or several people in the room feel sick at once, get out and call 911. This is general safety information, not professional advice. This channel is made with the help of AI tools. Which of these 7 do you already do when you check in? Tell me in the comments. #hotelsafety #travelsafety #prepping
