Description

"Music in a Doll’s House", the 1968 debut by Family, is often cited as one of the earliest progressive rock albums. The album captured a moment when late 60s psychedelia was beginning to evolve into something more ambitious. But despite its influence on bands like Jethro Tull and Genesis, the album has never quite received the same level of recognition as other pioneering records from that era. Sitting somewhere between psychedelia and early progressive rock, it remains a fascinating, and often overlooked, piece of music history. In this video, we take a look at the story behind "Music in a Doll’s House": from the band’s early days and recording process to the album’s unique sound, its place in the evolution of progressive rock, and the reasons why it may have slipped through the cracks over time.
