Description

For a while in the early nineteen seventies, a Formula One team was run out of a public phone box, because the boss could not pay the bill on his own line. His name was Frank Williams, his cars were slow, his money was gone, and the sport had written him off as a likeable loser. Then his closest friend was killed, he was bought out and thrown off the team that carried his own name, and still he refused to quit. This is the story of how that man clawed his way back from the very bottom, bet everything on one brilliant engineer, and built a car so good it tore the world championship out of Ferrari's hands, leaving the proudest name in racing on eight points and its reigning champion unable to even qualify for a race. The richest team in the sport, buried by very nearly the poorest. Tell me in the comments who deserves the credit, Frank Williams or the car, and which other comeback from the bottom you want next. I go through every single one.
