Description

I used to hate watching a beautiful bunch of parsley turn yellow and slimy in the refrigerator after I had only used a handful. So in this video, I’m showing you the two ways I preserve parsley instead of letting the rest go to waste. The first is the method I use when I want parsley to keep its best quality for up to a year: drying it slowly at a low temperature, keeping the leaves whole, and storing them somewhere cool, dark, dry, and airtight. The second is for when I want something closer to that fresh parsley flavor. I chop the parsley, mix it with oil, portion it into small cubes, and freeze it right away so I can drop one straight into a pot whenever I need it. And there is one old kitchen habit I want to warn you about. Herbs packed in oil should never be left sitting on the pantry shelf. If I’m preserving parsley in oil, it goes into the freezer promptly. Some traditions deserve to be kept. Others need to change when we know better. In this video, I’ll show you: • How I dry parsley without cooking away all the flavor • How to know when the leaves are truly dry • Why I store dried parsley whole instead of grinding it first • How I make parsley-and-oil freezer cubes • The storage mistake I would never make with herbs in oil • How I turn one bunch of parsley into something I can use long after the fresh bunch would have spoiled That is how I like to run my kitchen. Use what you need today, and take care of the rest before it becomes waste. Tell me in the comments: **What herb always seems to spoil before you can use it?** Basil? Cilantro? Parsley? Something else? And if you try both methods, come back and tell me which one you reach for more.
