Description

A New Orleans dancer leaves a Bourbon Street club with a couple offering her extra work. Within days, her remains begin washing ashore along the Mississippi Gulf Coast. In Shreveport, a 22-year-old student drives out of a downtown parking garage—and vanishes along with her car. In today’s episode of Southern Girl Crime Stories, we cover the 2012 murder of Jaren Ann Lockhart and the still-unsolved 2022 disappearance of Savannah Hale. 🔎 Featured Cases: 🕵 Jaren Ann Lockhart — Kenner, Louisiana In the early morning hours of June 6, 2012, 23-year-old Jaren Lockhart finished her shift at Temptations on Bourbon Street and left with Terry Speaks and Margaret Sanchez after accepting an offer to dance at a private party. The following day, part of Jaren’s remains washed ashore in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi. Additional remains and clothing were recovered along the Gulf Coast over the next several days. DNA testing confirmed the victim was Jaren. Investigators determined that Jaren had been attacked inside Sanchez’s mobile home in Kenner before her body was dismembered and transported to Mississippi. Although the couple’s car had been sold and cleaned with bleach, forensic investigators recovered Jaren’s DNA from deep inside its trunk mechanism. Speaks was convicted in June 2015 of second-degree murder, obstruction of justice, and conspiracy to obstruct justice. He received two life sentences without parole. Sanchez later pleaded guilty to manslaughter and related charges and was sentenced to 40 years in prison. 🕵 Savannah Hale — Shreveport, Louisiana On the morning of May 4, 2022, 22-year-old Savannah Hale left the home where she had been staying and drove through Shreveport in her gray 2012 Kia Forte. At 6:06 a.m., Savannah used her card at a Chevron station on North Market Street. Two minutes later, she called her sister and left a voicemail asking her to call back. Shortly afterward, Savannah’s phone went offline. At 7:03 a.m., a security camera recorded Savannah driving
