Description
What would TON 618 look like if we moved it closer to Earth?
At 200 light-years away, this ultramassive black hole's quasar could rival the Sun in our sky. Bring it closer, and the numbers become almost impossible to comprehend.
TON 618 contains one of the most massive black holes ever studied, with estimates reaching 66 billion solar masses. Its enormous luminosity makes it visible across billions of light-years.
In this documentary, we take a hypothetical journey toward TON 618, moving it from its distant location to Andromeda, the Large Magellanic Cloud, the Milky Way's center, and eventually our own stellar neighborhood.
At each distance, we explore how its brightness, apparent size, gravitational influence and radiation would change what we see from Earth.
What would happen to our sky? When would Earth become uninhabitable? And what would the event horizon look like up close?
The closer we get, the stranger the universe becomes.
