Description

NASA is not landing astronauts on the Moon in 2027. Artemis III has been redesigned as a mission in low-Earth orbit, where astronauts will test rendezvous and docking with commercial lunar landing systems before NASA attempts the first Artemis surface landing with Artemis IV. But that’s only the beginning of this edition of Insane News. We also look at Reflect Orbital’s plan to place giant mirrors in low-Earth orbit and sell reflected sunlight after sunset, Hubble completing its 200,000th orbit around Earth, and the growing use of artificial intelligence to let satellites make decisions without waiting for mission control. Then we head to Mars. Japan’s MMX mission is beginning its journey toward Phobos, where it aims to collect the first pristine samples ever returned from a Martian moon. NASA’s Perseverance rover has also broken the all-time off-world driving distance record previously held by Opportunity. And while robots keep getting better at exploring Mars, new research is showing how difficult the same journey could be for humans — especially when it comes to deep-space radiation. Finally, Elon Musk’s next-generation Tesla Roadster brings SpaceX-style rocket technology much closer to Earth. Welcome to Insane News: the biggest and strangest developments in space exploration and astronomy, sorted out every two weeks. -- DISCUSSIONS & SOCIAL MEDIA Commercial Purposes: [email protected] Tik Tok: https://www.tiktok.com/@insanecuriosity Reddit: https://www.reddit.com/user/insanecuriosity Instagram: https://instagram.com/insanecuriositythereal Twitter: https://twitter.com/insanecurio Facebook: https://facebook.com/InsaneCuriosity Linkedin: https://www.linkedin.com/in/insane-curiosity-46b928277/ Our Website: https://insanecuriosity.com/ -- Credits: Ron Miller, Mark A.
