Description
Cold case DNA and genetic genealogy led investigators to Coley McCraney nearly 20 years after the murders of J.B. Beasley and Tracie Hawlett in Ozark, Alabama. For decades, DNA recovered during the investigation remained unidentified—until advances in forensic genealogy finally gave detectives a new name to investigate.
When McCraney voluntarily provided a DNA sample, investigators said it matched the evidence preserved since 1999. But the discovery didn't end the mystery. McCraney claimed there was another reason his DNA was connected to J.B. and denied killing either teenager.
This true crime documentary examines the forensic evidence, genetic genealogy breakthrough, McCraney's explanation, and the evidence that ultimately went before a jury.
Was the DNA evidence enough to prove what happened that night?
