Robert Atrops reported his estranged wife, Deborah Atrops, missing in 1988. Nearly 35 years later, police arrested him for her murder. Deborah disappeared after leaving a hair appointment on November 29, 1988. She was supposed to pick up the couple's infant daughter from Robert's home, but Robert told investigators she never arrived. Two days later, Deborah's abandoned Honda was discovered near a remote construction site. Her body was found inside the trunk. The case remained unsolved for decades until cold-case investigators reexamined evidence preserved since 1988. New testing connected Robert to a DNA mixture recovered from Deborah's coat, while investigators also revisited mud evidence and discrepancies in his statements.
