Description

The Nancy Cooper murder case became one of North Carolina's most unusual digital evidence investigations after Google Maps evidence was discovered on her husband Brad Cooper's laptop. Nancy disappeared from Cary, North Carolina, in July 2008. Two days later, her body was found near Fielding Drive. Investigators later said temporary internet files on Brad's computer showed Google Maps activity focusing on the area where Nancy's body would eventually be discovered—the day before she disappeared. That digital evidence became a critical part of the prosecution's case, but Brad's defense challenged the computer forensics and the reliability of the Google Maps files. The dispute eventually contributed to his first murder conviction being overturned. Then the Nancy Cooper case took one final turn. In this episode of Caught By Forensics, we examine the Google Maps evidence, disputed computer forensics, Brad Cooper investigation, and the digital trail at the center of this Cary, North Carolina murder case.
