Description

Hidden in the Columbia River is one of the last surviving pieces of Castlegar's early lumber industry. This historic log cribbing jetty was built for the William Waldie Sawmill to redirect the river's current, creating a protected area where floating logs could be collected and guided into the mill. More than a century later, its rock-filled core still remains. Featuring drone footage and rare historic photographs of the Waldie Mill. 📍 Castlegar, British Columbia 📸 Historic photo credits: Columbia Basin Institute of Regional History 🎥 Tracks, Trails & Forgotten Tales Music from #Uppbeat (free for Creators!): https://uppbeat.io/t/albert-behar/no-turning-back License code: Y8PML7GLQ1PIWJUB #Shorts #Castlegar #BCHistory #LoggingHistory #ColumbiaRiver #ForestryHistory #CanadianHistory #IndustrialHeritage #TracksTrailsForgottenTales Now streaming on: 🎥 YouTube – full video episodes & highlights 🎙 Spotify, Amazon Music, Audible, iHeartRadio & Apple Podcasts – audio episodes on the go. 📍 What to expect: Ghost towns like Phoenix, Sandon & Greenwood The historic Kettle Valley Railway Abandoned mines, smelters & pioneer trails Outdoor adventure: camping, hiking & exploring BC’s backroads 👉 Don’t forget to subscribe, like, and hit the bell 🔔 to join us on every journey into the past.
