Description
For more than 200 years, stories have circulated about a forgotten burial ground hidden on Pulpit Hill in the Blue Mountains. ⛰️
Some claimed there were three graves. Others counted seven, sixteen, or even twenty-two. Old maps marked the location as an “Old Cemetery”, yet nobody seemed to know exactly who was buried there.
In this episode of Shadowed Secrets, we explore one of the Blue Mountains’ most enduring mysteries.
Following the routes once travelled by explorers, convicts and settlers, we uncover the remarkable story of Edgar Church — a young convict whose grave was recorded at Pulpit Hill in 1824 before his identity vanished from history for almost two centuries.
From forgotten journals discovered in France 🇫🇷 to mysterious stone mounds hidden among the bush, this is a story of lost graves, convict history, colonial Australia and a mystery that may never be fully solved.
Who was buried at Pulpit Hill?
How many graves once existed?
And what secrets still remain hidden beneath the mountain soil?
Join me as we walk through history and investigate one of the Blue Mountains’ most fascinating forgotten stories.
