Spraying Fruit Trees With Air

Spraying Fruit Trees With Air In an orchard in Guangxi, China, farmers are using a powerful backpack sprayer that works more like a leaf blower than a regular spray gun. It's called an air-assisted mist sprayer, designed to reach deep into dense fruit trees where conventional spraying can struggle. A small gasoline engine drives a high-speed fan inside the blue housing. Liquid is fed into the airflow, where atomization breaks it into fine droplets. The fan then carries these droplets toward the tree canopy, pushing leaves aside and helping the spray reach hidden branches and the undersides of leaves. This is especially useful in hillside orchards, where large spraying machines have limited access. Farmers can direct the airflow upward or sideways without moving heavy equipment between trees. However, stronger airflow isn't always better. Excessive pressure can cause spray drift, wasting chemicals. Proper airflow and droplet size are essential for effective coverage. #farming #agriculture #china #orchard #farmtechnology
