Description

Skip Bifferty are one of the great lost bands of the British psychedelic era. Despite earning praise from influential figures such as John Peel and Chris Welch, and building a strong reputation on the live circuit, the Newcastle group never achieved the commercial success many believed they deserved. Their story, however, is about far more than a forgotten album. It involves delayed record releases, disastrous management decisions, exile to the Isle of Wight, alleged death threats, and a bitter conflict with one of the most feared figures in the British music industry: Don Arden, the man known as "The Al Capone of Pop." In this video, we explore the rise and fall of Skip Bifferty, the creation of their cult classic 1968 album, the bizarre Heavy Jelly episode, and the events that ultimately brought the band to an end.
