Description

I'll never fry onions again! This onion is so delicious that I make it twice a week! My brother worked in a restaurant and taught me this onion recipe! Now I make it every weekend! 📌 RECIPE: Ingredients: For the onion pie: 4 onions 1 additional onion for the top Olive oil 1 tsp butter 2 tbsp cornstarch Salt, to taste Black pepper, to taste 2 tbsp flour Dried garlic, to taste Italian herbs, to taste 350 ml (about 1½ cups) water 1 tbsp balsamic sauce For the sauce: 1 avocado Salt, to taste Black pepper, to taste Juice of 1 lime Capers, to taste 1 tbsp Greek yogurt 1 garlic clove Thyme, to taste 👩‍🍳 Instructions: Slice 4 onions into half rings. Heat some olive oil and 1 teaspoon of butter in a frying pan. Add the onions and sauté over medium heat until soft. In a separate bowl, combine the cornstarch, salt, black pepper, and flour. Mix well. Add dried garlic, Italian herbs, and 350 ml (about 1½ cups) of water. Stir thoroughly until you have a smooth batter. Add the prepared mixture to the sautéed onions and mix well. Pour in 1 tablespoon of balsamic sauce and cook for about 1 more minute. Combine the cooked onions with the prepared batter. Heat a frying pan with a little olive oil and spread the onion mixture evenly in the pan. Slice 1 additional onion into rings and arrange them on top. Cover the pan with a lid and cook until the bottom develops a beautiful golden crust. Carefully flip the onion pie using a plate, then cook on the other side for another 5–7 minutes. 🥑 Avocado Sauce: Peel and chop 1 avocado, then mash it with a fork. Add salt, black pepper, and the juice of 1 lime. Mix well. Finely chop the capers and add them to the avocado. Add 1 tablespoon of Greek yogurt, garlic, and thyme. Mix everything thoroughly until creamy. Serve this hot, golden skillet onion pie with the fresh avocado sauce. Enjoy! 🧅
