🌊 For as long as we've mapped the oceans, the tallest waterfall on Earth has been hiding in plain sight. Not Angel Falls, not Niagara, but a wall of cold water more than 11,000 feet tall, pouring through the sea between Greenland and Iceland, and no one has ever seen it or ever will.
So what is actually down there? This is the story of the Denmark Strait cataract, the largest waterfall on the planet: how a waterfall made of seawater falls through more seawater, why it leans to one side, what lives in the deep river it becomes, where its water is really born, and why the current it drives is now the weakest it has been in over a thousand years. Let's find out.
