Description

📕 Get the full cookbook - The Lunch Lady's $3,600-a-Year Grocery Cut (175 recipes & tricks, scaled for 1, 2 or a family): www.dorislunchlady.com/ Half a bag of potato chips gone stale. The last of a can of pumpkin with a skin on top. A bunch of celery bending like a rubber hose in the drawer. I used to throw out all three. Now all three live in my freezer. For thirty-five years I worked in a school kitchen where the freezer was the bank. Nothing went in the trash that could have gone in a bag. So here are fifteen foods most people never think to freeze, and where there is a catch, I tell you the catch. Counting down all fifteen: potato chips and crackers, fresh cranberries, tortillas, the half can of pumpkin or evaporated milk, celery, holiday candy, pancakes and waffles, mashed potatoes, cream cheese, bacon one slice at a time, cake layers, a whole unbaked fruit pie, gravy and pan drippings, a pot of dried beans in can-size bags, and number one, a whole holiday dinner on a lunch tray. Half of them you will be buying for the holidays in the next few weeks. Number four is a pie you put together in October and bake on Thanksgiving morning, straight from the freezer. Number two takes the place of four cans of beans for about the price of two. I am Mrs. Doris. A school kitchen in Scioto County, Ohio, on a dollar and five cents a tray. Freezer times in this video are for best quality. Food kept frozen stays safe, but tastes best eaten within the times I give. Thaw leftovers in the refrigerator, not on the counter. What is one food you threw away this year that you wish you had frozen instead? Tell me below. #freezertips #foodwaste #over60 #frugalliving #mrsdoris
