He Was Shot in the Chest… Then Gave a Speech! #Shorts

On this day, October 14, 1912, Theodore Roosevelt was shot in the chest. Then he did something almost impossible. He gave his speech anyway. While campaigning for the presidency in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, former US President Theodore Roosevelt was shot at close range by John Schrank. The bullet passed through his heavy coat, a metal eyeglasses case and a folded manuscript of his speech, slowing it before entering his chest. Instead of going straight to the hospital, Roosevelt insisted on addressing the crowd. He told his audience he had just been shot. Then he continued speaking for over an hour, with the bullet still inside him. Only afterwards did he seek hospital treatment. Doctors discovered that the bullet had fractured a rib and lodged near his right lung. They decided not to remove it. The bullet remained inside Roosevelt for the rest of his life. One of the most extraordinary moments in American presidential history. **THE AXER STORIES — INCREDIBLE TRUE HISTORY** Extraordinary people. Unbelievable decisions.
