Description

In 1704, an eight-year-old boy was kidnapped from Central Africa and marched across the Sahara. Most stories like this end in tragedy. His did not. This is the true story of Abram Petrovich Gannibal — the kidnapped prince who was sold to the Ottoman court, freed by a Russian ambassador, adopted by Peter the Great, exiled to Siberia, and ultimately promoted to General-in-Chief of the Russian Army, the highest military rank in the empire. Along the way, he studied military engineering in France, fought as a captain on European battlefields, befriended the intellectuals of the Enlightenment, and chose a new name to honor his heritage: Gannibal, after the Carthaginian general who nearly destroyed Rome. But his greatest legacy? His great-grandson was Alexander Pushkin — the father of Russian literature. In this video, we trace one of history's most extraordinary journeys: from the shores of Lake Chad to the Winter Palace of St. Petersburg. We explore the engineering marvels Gannibal built across Russia, the rivals who tried to bury him, the empress who saved him, and the four mysterious letters carved into his noble coat of arms — F.V.M.M.O. — that remain unsolved to this day. His life stands as proof that genius recognizes no border. And that mastery alone can dismantle any hierarchy. #AbramGannibal #RussianHistory #BlackHistory #AlexanderPushkin #PeterTheGreat #UntoldHistory #Documentary #HistoryChannel #AfricanHistory #MilitaryHistory #Enlightenment #TrueStory
