Today's Catholic Mass Readings — Thursday, October 8, 2026 | Gospel Reflection

Daily Mass Readings and Gospel Reflection for Thursday, October 8, 2026 | Thursday of the Twenty-Seventh Week in Ordinary Time. In today’s Gospel, Jesus teaches us to pray with perseverance, trust, and humility. Through the parable of the friend who asks for bread at midnight, the Lord shows that persevering prayer never falls into emptiness, because God is not reluctant or distant, but a merciful Father. This reflection invites us to understand that prayer does not force God to follow our will; rather, it purifies our desires and opens our hearts to His plan. In the light of Saint Paul’s teaching in Galatians, we are called to ask above all for the greatest gift: the Holy Spirit, who teaches us to pray, strengthens us in trials, and leads us more deeply into trust. ► Full Gospel listening: https://youtu.be/sLweLH9WaLk ► Timestamps: 00:00 Preface 00:23 First Reading 01:11 Gospel Reading 02:37 Gospel Reflection 15:06 Prayer 16:16 Closing Message 🕊️ May the Word of God guide your steps today.
