In April 1916, Ernest Shackleton and five men set out in a 22-foot lifeboat across 800 miles of open ocean after their ship, the Endurance, was crushed by ice. Twenty-two men waited behind on a frozen island. Navigator Frank Worsley caught the sun only four times in sixteen days, yet he brought them to South Georgia. Shackleton later wrote that he had no doubt Providence had guided them. There is one more detail from that journey, and we return to it near the end. This morning devotional walks through three truths: seek His wisdom first (Psalm 119:133, Nehemiah 2:4), God guides a willing heart (John 7:17, Jeremiah 42:6), and enough light for today (Psalm 37:23, Matthew 2:9).
