Before the Carrington Hotel dominated Katoomba's skyline, another grand building stood proudly opposite the railway station. Known variously as Coowong, Katoomba College, The Priory and the Royal Coffee Palace, this remarkable building served many purposes over 80 years before disappearing forever in 1961. This is its story.
