Description

📕 Get The Lunch Lady's Home Cleaning Handbook, every method in this video written down with the amounts, in the order you would really do them: https://doriscleans.com I ran a school kitchen for thirty-five years, and there is a list in my head of things I would never have in a kitchen of my own. Not because they do not work. Most of them work fine. Because of what they cost you at four o'clock, when you are tired and the thing still needs wiping. The question was never whether a thing works. It is whether it works for whoever has to clean it. THE SEVEN 1. A dish rag that gets a second day. It does not take dirt off a counter, it spreads it thin and leaves a film, and that film is why you wipe twice. 2. A coffee maker with water standing in it overnight. Scale slows the machine, the coffee comes out weaker, and then you are descaling a machine. A job that did not have to exist. 3. A cutting board with knife marks in it. You have been told plastic is the safe one and wood is the dirty one. It is the other way round, and the reason is in the scoring. 4. Open shelves anywhere near the stove. Fry one pan of chicken and the fat does not stay over the pan. You end up washing dishes you never ate off. 5. Anything that lives on a work surface. Five things on a counter turns one pass into ten, and because it is ten, you do not do it. 6. One towel doing three jobs. A towel that has been on your hands is wet, and a wet towel does not dry a plate, it moves the water around. 7. A square corner. Not a thing you own at all, and once you have seen it you will find it in nine places before bed. And the honest part at the end: a school kitchen has nothing in it that anybody loves. Your kitchen has your mother's cutting board in it. Half this list does not apply to a thing you love, and that is not a failure of yours. I'm Mrs. Doris. Thirty-five years behind a school lunch line in Scioto County, Ohio, four hundred children a day on a dollar and five cents a tray. I show you what actually works, I tell you where it stops, and I tell on myself when I still own the thing I am warning you about, which happens twice in this one. WHAT I USED - NSF International's 2011 household germ study, which swabbed 22 homes: the dish sponge or rag came back the most heavily loaded item in the house, with coliform present in 77 percent of those homes, and about half of the homes had yeast or mould in the coffee maker water reservoir. Kitchen counters showed coliform in 32 percent - Dean Cliver's cutting board research at the food safety laboratory at the University of California, Davis: bacteria on a NEW plastic board could be cleaned off, while knife-scarred plastic was, in his words, impossible to clean and disinfect manually, especially with food residue on it. A dishwasher could still do it. On wood, across more than ten hardwoods, bacteria went down into the fibres and did not multiply - NSF/ANSI 2, the food equipment standard, which covers the construction of tables, counters, hoods, shelves and sinks, not just what you wipe them with - A 2018 conference paper from the University of Mauritius on kitchen towels, which I quote as a conference paper and not as gospel, because that is what it is So tell me the thing in your kitchen you would never buy again. And tell me what county you are in, because hard water rewrites about half of what I just said. #cleaningtips #kitchentips #oldschoolcleaning #cleaninghacks
