Description
📗 Save $2,000 A Year On Whiskey With My Distiller Methods: https://wadecooperdistiller.com
You paid 42 dollars for the purple bag and put the plain bottle back on the pallet. Same size, same country, same set of rules, and the plain one told you right on the front that it was aged six years. The difference at the register was 22 dollars and 28 cents, and you paid it for the part of the bottle you cannot drink.
I spent 34 years in this industry, and I filled a great many barrels that left the building under names that were not ours. So here are the three things I check on any whiskey in that aisle, in the order I check them: the gap, the country, and the name on the back.
Then the fourth thing, the secret inside the secret. A store label is a contract, not a distillery. One plain label has had four different arrangements behind the very same name, and nobody was ever told. I tell you what went into Hoyt's drawer, which store bottles I buy, and the one I walk straight past.
Your homework: five minutes in the aisle without putting a single bottle in the cart, and one back label read out loud at home. Then tell me in the comments what town you are in and what the newer store bourbon in the 1.75 liter bottle costs at your warehouse this week.
