📕 Get The Lunch Lady's Home Cleaning Handbook, every method in this video written down with the amounts, in the order you would really do them:

A hotel room gets stripped, scrubbed, made up and handed to a stranger in twenty minutes. Your spare bedroom has been on your list since August. That gap isn't effort and it isn't age. It's method.
I never cleaned a hotel room in my life. Loretta Branham did, eleven years of it at a Howard Johnson's off the highway, and in 1991 she came to work in my school kitchen. This is what I watched her do, and what it took me a year to understand properly.
Here's the two minute version. The order gets decided at the door, before she goes in. Everything she needs comes in with her and she does not come back out for anything. The room gets emptied before anything gets cleaned. The floor goes before the bed, so the bed gets made once. And she looks at the room from the doorway before she calls it done.
THE SIX THINGS SHE WIPED EVERY SINGLE TIME
Not when they looked dirty. Every room, every turnover, whether or not there was a mark on them.
- Light switches
- Both faces of every door handle you use
- The fridge handle
- The TV remote
- The kettle handle
- The tap
Run a fingernail along the edge of the light switch in the room you're in right now. That grey line is years of hands, and it has never been cleaned, because it isn't dirty the way a floor is dirty.
I'm Mrs. Doris. Thirty-five years behind a school lunch line in Scioto County, Ohio, four hundred children a day on a dollar and five cents a tray. I show you what actually works, I tell you where it stops, and I say so when I got it wrong myself, which I did with this one for about a year.
A WORD ON THE CHEMICALS
A hotel uses commercial product at commercial strength and a housekeeper is trained for it. At home, use whatever you already have, go by the time printed on your own bottle, never mix two products together, and open a window. Nothing in this video needs anything stronger than what is under your sink.
WHAT I USED
- Los Angeles Hotel Worker Protection Ordinance, in force since 12 August 2022: in hotels of 60 rooms or more, a room attendant is not to be required to clean more than 3,500 square feet of floor space in an eight hour workday, and 4,000 square feet in hotels of 45 to 60 rooms, with double pay owed for the whole day if the limit is passed
- Minutes Per Occupied Room, the hospitality industry's own measure of housekeeping productivity, where the usual figure quoted for turning a room over properly is 20 to 30 minutes
And the honest part: that system runs on an empty room. Your house has a life in it. You are never going to get it down to twenty minutes a room, and the day you manage it will be a sad day, because it will mean nobody is living there.
So tell me the thing you have never once cleaned because it never looked dirty. And tell me your county, because the water's different everywhere and it changes half the answers.
