Description

In this video, I show you a clever way to fix a stripped hole without throwing away the original screw. The screw itself is in perfect shape – it's the hole that's lost its threads. Here's the process I walk you through: 1. Drill the hole larger to remove the damaged threads and create a clean, fresh surface. 2. Tap new, larger threads into the hole so it can accept a bigger screw. 3. Find a screw that fits the new, larger hole – this will act as a custom repair bushing. 4. Drill and tap the center of that larger screw so it perfectly matches the size of your original screw. Now the larger screw becomes a permanent threaded insert, and your original screw fits right back in – good as new! This method saves time, money, and a perfectly good screw. It's one of those tricks I wish I'd learned years ago. If you've ever fixed a stripped hole a different way, I'd love to hear about it. Drop your experience in the comments – I read every one.
