Description
Before 1884. Before the Berlin Conference. Before fourteen European nations sat down in Berlin and carved the continent like a birthday cake… Africa had names. Real names. Names that meant something.
Names tied to languages, ancestors, and gods.
This is what Africa was actually called.
From Wagadou (what you call Ghana) to Kemet (what you call Egypt). From Manden Kurufaba (the Mali Empire) to Kongo dia Ntotila (the Kongo Kingdom). From the Dahomey Amazons to Queen Nzinga of Ndongo. From the Swahili Coast to Great Zimbabwe.
We go region by region, kingdom by kingdom, name by name — rebuilding the map they burned.
Because names are not just labels. They are maps to memory.
When we say Wagadou instead of Ghana, we remember an empire that traded gold across the Sahara before Europe knew West Africa existed. When we say Kemet, we remember that one of the world's greatest civilizations was African. When we say Kongo dia Ntotila, we remember a kingdom that chose its own religion, its own diplomacy, its own path.
These names are not dead. They are buried. And they are waiting.
Learn them. Say them. Keep them alive.
