Description

DNA evidence on a murder weapon helped solve the 24-year-old cold case of Sherry Holtz. In December 1999, investigators found Sherry dead in a wooded area in Sanford, Florida. Near the crime scene was a blood-covered knife—but the DNA samples were too small for testing technology at the time to produce a usable profile. More than two decades later, investigators tested the preserved knife again. This time, forensic technology revealed Sherry’s blood on the blade and a secondary DNA profile matching Gary Durrance on the handle. Durrance was arrested in 2024. In June 2026, a jury found him guilty of second-degree murder, and he was sentenced to life in prison. This case shows why preserving forensic evidence can give cold cases another chance when DNA technology advances. #coldcases #truecrimestory #dnaevidence Watch Full Video Here: https://youtu.be/k0Pxms5id_0
