Description

Moving Bananas Without Bruising In Guangdong Province, these bananas are harvested while they are still green, but already mature enough for transport. Instead of dragging the heavy bunches through the plantation, workers suspend them from wooden shoulder poles. This spreads the load across the shoulders while keeping the fruit away from the ground, where impacts can bruise the peel. At the collection point, each bunch is transferred onto a simple metal hanging frame. That matters because bananas are highly prone to mechanical damage after harvest. Even small cuts, pressure marks, and bruises can lower their market quality. Guangdong banana farms have also used suspended transport systems designed around the same principle: move the bunch without letting it hit the ground. From here, the green bunches are carried to the truck. Later processing can include dehanding, washing, grading, packing, and controlled ripening before the bananas reach consumers. #bananaharvest #bananafarm #farming #agriculture #harvesting
