This is temporary stadium flooring, a modular system used to protect the playing field during concerts, ceremonies, exhibitions, and other large events.
The surface is made from thousands of individual panels that lock together to form one large temporary floor over the turf. In this case, the cover uses 11,346 panels and 45,384 locks.
Those locks are not security locks. They are mechanical connectors that hold the panels tightly together so the floor stays stable and does not shift apart while people, equipment, and event structures move across it.
The flooring also helps spread weight across a larger area, reducing direct pressure on the grass or artificial turf underneath. This makes it possible to use the stadium for events without exposing the field to the same level of wear and damage.
Once the event is over, the entire system can be unlocked, removed, and stored for future use. Temporary stadium flooring is a simple but important part of event engineering, allowing one stadium to be used for sports, concerts, and other major events while helping protect the field below.
This video is shared for educational purposes to explain stadium engineering, modular flooring, and how large venues protect their playing surfaces.
