Daily Bible Verse + Prayer for Today | Psalm 103:13 | Morning Devotional

Do you picture God as distant when you are struggling? Begin your day with Psalm 103:13 and a comforting morning prayer about the tender compassion of your heavenly Father. “Like as a father pitieth his children, so the LORD pitieth them that fear him.” - Psalm 103:13 (KJV) One word in this verse can be easy to misunderstand: “pitieth.” Here, it expresses deep, tender compassion the love of a caring father responding to his child’s pain. Picture a good father comforting a frightened child, listening patiently, and drawing close when tears come. David uses that familiar picture to help us understand the Lord’s compassion toward those who reverence Him. In today’s morning devotional, we reflect on three reassuring truths: • God sees your struggles with tender compassion. • His fatherly care invites you to bring your needs honestly before Him. • You can approach Him with trust, knowing that you are deeply loved. Perhaps you have been hesitant to pray because you imagine God responding with impatience. Let this Scripture encourage you to come close. Bring Him your weariness, your fears, and the places where you need His mercy and guidance. If your experience of an earthly father was painful or distant, this verse offers a picture of the compassionate care you can seek in God. His character gives you reason to trust Him as you learn to receive that love.
