Description

Mount St. Mary’s was once one of the grandest buildings in the Blue Mountains. Opened by the Sisters of Charity in 1910 as a prestigious ladies’ college and convent, it later became a wartime refuge, retreat centre and ambitious cultural hub known as the Renaissance Centre. Today, behind security fences and overgrown gardens, the vast abandoned complex slowly decays — a haunting reminder of Katoomba’s changing fortunes and another piece of mountain history left to fade away.
