Description

I installed air conditioning for both my garages and now I’m having a problem. Look at this nasty white stuff growing on the brick. This is called efflorescence, and it’s from the water that’s dripping out of the condensation lines on the ac unit. I need to get this water away from the house. There’s two drains I need to hook up to- this flexible line is for the basement garage and the hard ¾’’ one is for the upstairs garage. I find it’s a lot easier when I’m doing this kind of work to dry fit everything and then glue it in place. What I ended up with looks like some sort of crazy instrument. Next, I glued on a threaded union, this way I can take it apart if I ever need to unclog a drain. Originally, I was thinking to run this drain out to the yard; but then I thought- why not just tie it into the downspout drain so I don’t have to dig through the yard. I bought this flexible piece for the other end- this worked great for tying everything together. Water soaking into the brick and mortar brings out the natural salts. When it dries, the crusty stuff left behind is called efflorescence. Luckily, I know just the person who can clean it up. @hausplans #build #howto #homeimprovement #diy #contractor #condensationline
