Description

It's 6:20 AM, November 20th, 1917. 378 British tanks roll toward the Hindenburg Line at Cambrai, the biggest tank attack the world has ever seen. But let's change one thing. Straight in their path, on the Flesquieres ridge, sits a single M1A2 Abrams: 70 tons, 42 mph, a 120 mm gun, and exactly 42 shells. One tank. 378 targets. How many can it stop before the ammo runs out? In this video: - The real Cambrai attack: 378 tanks, six divisions of infantry, a thousand silent guns and a bundle of logs on every roof - What a Mark IV really was: 28 tons, 4 mph, eight men, a roaring engine and no suspension - Why a thermal sight in the Cambrai mist is unfair - The first shell, the panic, and the German phone call nobody can answer - The one problem no armor can fix - How the real battle ended, and why winning a fight is not the same as winning a war FACTS BEHIND THE FICTION - The Battle of Cambrai began at 6:20 AM on November 20th, 1917, with 378 fighting tanks (476 in total) and about a thousand guns that opened fire without a registering barrage. - A Mark IV weighed about 28 tons, managed roughly 4 mph, carried a crew of eight and had around 12 mm of armor. Tanks carried fascines, bundles of brushwood, to cross wide trenches. - The M1A2 Abrams weighs about 70 tons, tops 40 mph and carries 42 rounds of 120 mm ammunition. - Church bells rang across Britain after the first day, and the Germans counterattacked on November 30th, retaking much of the ground. - The Abrams scenes are pure fiction. Kill counts and timings are for storytelling. Would one Abrams really stop 378 tanks, or does a war always have more fights than shells?
