Description
R.C. Sproul looks at the major Christological crises that have shaped the history of the church and asks what the church may face in the decades ahead. From the Arian controversy and the Council of Nicaea to the debates surrounding the incarnation and the rise of theological liberalism, the church has repeatedly been forced to defend the biblical identity and work of Jesus Christ.
But Sproul points to something especially concerning: the crisis surrounding Christ is not confined to liberal institutions or historic mainline denominations. Theological skepticism has increasingly raised its head within evangelical circles as well. The question at stake is foundational: Who is Jesus, and what did He accomplish?
For the church, defending the biblical Christ is not a secondary theological issue. The person and work of Jesus stand at the center of the Christian faith.
