A Prince in Disguise | Dark Fantasy Series (Part 147)

Two men.🖤 One careless sentence. 🔥 And feelings neither of them wants to admit. Rook never expected things with Tristan to become complicated. After all... Tristan is a bounty hunter. A dangerous man. The very man who kidnapped Alaric. And someone Yannis has every reason to be angry at Rook betraying him AGAIN. Rook didn’t intent to… but somewhere between the arguments, the flirting, and those unexpected kisses... something changed. Especially for Tristan. Because beneath all that arrogance... that infuriating smirk... and those endless provocative remarks... there might actually be someone who wants more than a little fun. Someone who, just moments earlier, was surprised when Rook came back to kiss him. Not because he had to. Not because Tristan asked. But simply because Rook wanted to. And for one brief moment... Tristan allowed himself to believe that perhaps it meant…??? Then Yannis arrived. Furious. And understandably so. "You kissed him?!" Rook does what Rook always does when things become uncomfortable. He hides behind sarcasm. "Had to shut that annoying mouth somehow." But Yannis isn't amused. Because this isn't some harmless stranger Rook has taken an interest in. This is the man who kidnapped the person Yannis loves. "He's a bounty hunter! He kidnapped Alaric!" And Rook? He shrugs. As though none of it matters. As though Tristan means nothing. "Oh, relax. It was just a bit of fun." Just a bit of fun. Four little words. And perhaps the last four words Tristan wanted to hear. Because he's sitting right there. Close enough to hear everything. Close enough to realise that whatever he thought that last kiss meant... Rook apparently has a very different explanation for it. For just a moment... the smirk disappears. Something almost painfully honest flickers across Tristan's face. Disappointment? And all those walls are back up… high like the prison walls of Roswyn. But Tristan won’t let anyone see that. So he puts that familiar expression back on. And answers with the same careless tone. "Likewise, mate." Two words. A forced smile. And suddenly... Rook doesn't look quite so pleased with himself anymore. Because perhaps he never meant to hurt Tristan. Perhaps he was simply trying to convince Yannis that nothing serious had happened. Or perhaps... he was trying to convince himself? But judging by the way his smile fades... he knows exactly what he's done. And for once... Tristan doesn't need another clever remark to get under his skin. This is just a small moment from The Firelords Saga — where enemies are slowly becoming something more, but admitting that you care can sometimes be far more frightening than facing each other with a sword. 🔥🖤 Thank you to everyone already following their story… it truly means more than you know. 🖤 If you love slow burn romance, emotional tension, fantasy storytelling, and Boys Love (BL) dynamics — this is for you. 💛 New here?
