Description

Original Video Credit: IG@j_hfilm This small handmade device works using the same basic optical principle that early cameras were built around: light entering through a lens and forming an image inside a dark enclosure. The front lens collects light coming from the outside scene and bends those light rays so they come together inside the box. When the light is focused correctly, it creates a real image of whatever the device is pointed toward. Depending on the exact design, that image can then be viewed through another lens, reflected by a mirror, or formed on a viewing surface inside the device. That is why you can see the outside world appearing inside such a simple cardboard construction, even though there are no electronics involved. This idea is closely related to the camera obscura, one of the earliest principles behind photography. A traditional camera obscura can work with only a tiny hole, but adding a lens makes the image much brighter and easier to focus. In simple terms, the device is using lenses and focused light to create a miniature optical image of the outside world inside the box. This video is shared for educational purposes to explain optics, lenses, image formation, and the basic science behind cameras.
